The objective of this project was to create a banner ad campaign to promote an International Dance Festival in the city of Barcelona (Spain). The campaign consisted in the creation of a series of banners coordinated with each other, a main banner announcing the festival and two secondary banners emphasizing two specific dance styles: Bollywood Dance and Classical Dance.
Inspirational Images
After some research and inspiration, I decided to create a design based on a circular shape, inspired by the shape of the skirt or tutu of a dancer dancing with circular movements from a zenithal view.
In addition, this shape refers to circle dancing, probably the oldest known style of dance, as it has been part of community life since people started dancing. It is an ancient tradition common in many cultures to celebrate special occasions, rituals, strengthen community and foster togetherness. It is a style of dance performed in a circle or semicircle accompanied by music, rhythmic instruments and chanting.
The emblem representing these two types of dances was created in Adobe Illustrator, starting from circular geometric shapes, and then, using the "transformation" tool, the resulting design was defined. Finally, a chromatic palette was selected to include the two types of dances. Orange in different shades was used to represent Bollywood dance and black and white to represent classical dance.
